About the Role
Swiss Chalet Plus 1955 in Scarborough is seeking a Restaurant Operations Manager to plan, direct, control, and evaluate daily restaurant operations in a high-volume dine-in, take-out, catering, and delivery environment. This role requires strong operational leadership in staffing, staff supervision, labour cost monitoring, inventory control, service coordination, food safety compliance, customer service, and cost management.
The Restaurant Operations Manager will supervise more than 20 employees, including supervisors, kitchen staff, and service employees.

Main Duties
Plan, direct, control, and evaluate daily restaurant operations.
Evaluate daily operations and identify areas for improvement.
Analyze budgets and operational reports to boost and maintain the restaurant’s profits.
Monitor revenues to determine labour cost.
Monitor staff performance and ensure service standards are met.
Plan and organize daily operations across dine-in, take-out, catering, and delivery channels.
Recruit, onboard, train, supervise, and develop supervisors, kitchen staff, and service employees.
Set staff work schedules based on forecasted sales, service volumes, and operational needs.
Organize and maintain food, beverage, and supply inventory.
Review waste and usage patterns and implement cost-control measures.
Negotiate arrangements with suppliers for food and other supplies.
Participate in marketing plans and implementation, including promotions, large-volume orders, and catering-related service requirements.
Address customers’ complaints or concerns and resolve escalated service issues.
Establish and implement operational procedures for service flow, kitchen coordination, order fulfillment, guest recovery, and peak-period execution.
Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and workplace health standards.
Oversee opening, closing, cash control, shift handover, and internal reporting to maintain accountability and continuity of operations.

Employment Requirements
Completion of a college diploma or university degree in hospitality administration/management, restaurant and food services management, business administration and management, or a related field is required.
A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in restaurant operations is required, including supervisory, shift management, or assistant management experience in a high-volume food service environment.
Demonstrated experience supervising and coordinating large restaurant teams is required.
Experience supervising more than 20 employees is required or strongly preferred.
Demonstrated experience in labour scheduling, inventory control, food cost monitoring, waste reduction, and daily operational reporting is required.
Proven experience in training, supervising, and performance-managing front-of-house and back-of-house staff is required.
Strong working knowledge of dine-in, take-out, catering, and third-party delivery coordination, including order flow and service issue resolution, is required.
Demonstrated ability to manage simultaneous service operations, respond to peak-period demand, and make real-time decisions affecting staffing, workflow, and guest service outcomes is required.
Safe Food Handling certification is required.
First Aid and CPR certifications are required.
WHMIS or workplace safety certification is required.
Experience using POS systems is required.
Experience using MS Excel, MS Office, MS Outlook, MS Windows, and MS Word is required.
