Role Summary:

  • The Barista is responsible for fulfilling orders and completing sales transactions while performing other support functions which may include cleaning, food preparation, maintaining stock areas and inventory, as well as performing all other responsibilities as directed by the Executive Chef.
  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Greets customers and takes food orders if necessary; provides information about products and looks for opportunities to "up-sell" products;
  • Prepares specialty coffees to Atrium standards;
  • Operates a cash register and receives payment from customers in cash, debit or credit card, accurately counts and provides change to customers as required, and follows all cash handling policies and procedures;
  • Opens/closes two registers daily: preparing/balancing deposits and balancing the float for the next day;
  • Cleans and stocks coffee station and cash register area;
  • Maintains and stocks display area;
  • Follows company operational policies and procedures, including those for safety and security, to ensure the safety of all colleagues during their shift;
  • Data entry of inventory items purchased from suppliers. This will be done using Excel (training provided);
  • Maintains a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep Atrium operating to standard and to set a positive example for the shift team;
  • Other tasks as requested.
  • Qualifications and Competencies:
  • Bilingual French and English
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar position
  • Demonstrates the ability to interact with the customer and coworkers in a friendly, enthusiastic and outgoing manner;
  • Cash handling and customer service experience preferred;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Sociable, personable and professional demeanor;
  • Comfortable with numbers;
  • Able to prioritize.
